When I was a little girl, my favourite story was one about a little girl who had a magic pencil. Whatever she drew with her magic pencil came to life and became real. I always wanted to have a pencil like that. Since I became a graphic recorder/facilitator in 2006, I realize that my childhood dream has come true! I’ve swapped the pencil for a set of magic markers, but the outcome is the same: when I put my markers to paper in a roomful of people, whatever they say takes shape, and their ideas become somehow more real. Magic!
As a relative newcomer to the field, I’m still enchanted by what I’m discovering about graphic recording. The way it literally draws out people’s thinking and helps them see "the big picture". The way it adds sparkle to meetings and unleashes people’s own creativity. The way the images become a catalyst for deep and generative conversation. The way the process honours people’s words and ideas.
In the past two years I’ve graphically recorded and facilitated dozens of meetings, conferences, visioning sessions and dialogues for community groups, government agencies, educational institutions and corporate clients. I bring to my work a background in graphic design, project management and dialogue - as well as a keen listening ear, a great sense of fun, and a strong desire to help groups move closer to their goals in the most enjoyable and creative ways possible.
