Hi There!
My name is Jeannel King, and I’m a graphic recorder/facilitator. At its simplest level, being a graphic recorder means that I draw what I hear. But it’s so much more than that. I listen, synthesize, and transcribe--in real time--the information you generate in group settings, such as meetings, conferences, trainings, retreats, etc. I am a visual sense-maker, and I’d love to do this for you!
Perhaps you want someone present in your group meeting, training or brainstorming session who is unobtrusive but will capture the gist of your session in a way that people will want to revisit and explore. This is what I call “Covert Graphic Recording,” and it’s something I greatly enjoy. I record in my sketchbook, then share my product digitally with you.
Perhaps you want someone in front of the group capturing the information in a larger scale, working with (or as) a facilitator and inviting the interaction of the group. This is what I call “Overt Graphic Recording “ and facilitation. Recording is done on flip-chart paper, or on 4’ x 8’ mural paper. I record in front of the group, photograph the products, and share both the digital and original products with you.
Or perhaps the group has already met and you’ve got a forty-page report that you know nobody (including yourself, if we’re honest) will want to look at once it is sent out. I love translating print materials into graphic representations (such as the “Case Study” graphic), and I also love creating event proceedings books that harvest not just the content but the spirit and feel of an event.
I’m not an art student, nor am I a graphic designer. I am tried-and-true nonprofit manager and group facilitator who has a knack for drawing what she hears and getting
