WE'RE LOOKING FOR INITIAL PROPOSALS FOR THE 2024 GLOBAL SUMMIT! People are already asking where we will gather, which is great! The IFVP board has appointed a team of four members as the proposal review committee. We are hoping to decide at the June 2023 board meeting on a recommendation from the review committee. Our deadline for proposals is May 29. You don't need to have all of the extensive details for this initial proposal. The review committee may contact you for further information.

IFVP Board of Directors April meeting

The board of directors met on Saturday, April 22. We are excited that there are many renewals of membership, often at the two year premium level, and often by long time highly experienced practitioners. This helps us to see that we are coming back from covid and have a strong role to play in the global field.

Shout Out To Our Asia Board Members

Time zones are challenging! We are grateful that our board members from Asia are willing to stay up late, and not only be present but be fully engaged in our work together. Jihyunn Lee created the image above, and Phil Guo shared this image of his workspace during our meeting. What a gift to work with this committed group!

2024 Global Summit Proposal Review Team formed

At the March board of directors meeting we set up a four person Global Summit Proposal Review Team. The four members represent Germany, Peru, Canada and Brazil. We are looking for proposals and will send potential host sites materials on request. Hosting a global summit involves a great deal of planning and preparation and we would look for locations that have members available to be the local planning team.

IFVP March Board of Directors Meeting

The IFVP Board of Directors met for our regular monthly meeting. We are particularly grateful to Jilly and Phil who are attending our meetings around midnight their time! After checking in, we recentered ourselves with our purpose, mission and vision statements:

We serve IFVP members.

EVP Cocktail Hour

Always a joy to join colleagues in Europe for the monthly cocktail hour drawing time! This month we were thinking about Spring and joy and fruit and music!

Scribe with members of the Value Web (volunteer)

The Value Web is holding two zoom meetings, one for members in Europe and the Americas (March 10, 11am NYC time), and one for members in the Asia Pacific region (March 6, 7pm NYC time). Members have been assigned chapters of the book "Ways of Being: Animals, Plants, Machines: The Search For A Planetary Intelligence" and will be reporting out and inviting discussion of the topics. They are inviting 1-2 members of the IFVP to attend and scribe the conversations. The graphic recordings will be sent to the author.

Thinking “International”

I was reflecting on the new global climate we operate in as the IFVP. There are sadly more international tensions than I have seen for some years, and since IFVP is only 27 or so years old, we mostly operated during a time of increasing globalization, which was supportive of international engagement. So since this is 2023 and chatGPT is a thing, I thought I'd ask it about this. I thought it had a good answer.

Why are international nonprofits valuable in our current increase in nationalist sentiment
