Drawing Stick Figures
with Nadine Rossa
Purpose:
Many people believe that drawing people is the most challenging part of drawing. However, it doesn’t have to be if you stick to using stick figures. Stick figures are usually very simple and easy to draw, yet they can still be quite unique and are perfect for basic storytelling.
Objectives:
In this workshop, you will learn the basics of drawing simple stick figures, how to give them unique characteristics, how to make them move or rest, and how to convey action and emotions. We will create tiny stories using stick figures.
When: 20 November 2024, 2pm EST/ 8pm CET, 90 minutes

Hello, I'm Nadine Roßa - sketchnoter , illustrator, visual designer (in an earlier life) and visualization expert from Berlin. I have over 20 years of experience in design. The first few years of that were in web design – thanks to the new economy. In 2004, I became self-employed as a freelancer alongside my studies in communication design and have never regretted this decision. My love has always been illustration, although I continued to focus on web, UI and corporate design for a long time.
After several stays abroad in New York and Helsinki, I completed my studies in 2009 and dedicated my diploma thesis to my favorite letter – the Eszett.
In 2011, I encountered sketchnotes for the first time at a conference and I was hooked. Since then, my focus has shifted more and more towards sketchnotes, illustration, graphic recording — in other words: visualization in general.
In 2017, my first book on the subject of "Sketchnotes - Visual Notes for Everything" was published , and many more have followed.
The last book, "The Great Symbol Library," even made it onto the Spiegel bestseller list.
I give workshops on the topic of visualization, sketchnotes and visual storytelling and have a teaching position at the Bauhaus University Weimar in 2020. I was part of the Design made in Germany team for a long time . I live and work in Berlin, but as we all know since 2020, everything is also possible digitally.
