IFVP Institute board: September 7, 2024

The IFVP Institute board met on Saturday, September 7 for our monthly board meeting. After checking in, we reviewed progress with regard to our accreditation process with INIFAC, which is nearing completion. We will be preparing materials regarding the certification process for release soon. The competency model is finalized and we will begin to connect a variety of books, trainings and articles to each of the competencies. Dr B is teaching a graduate class at Montclair this Fall and this will be part of their work as they study visual facilitation. We have a number of website updates to prepare in the next months. Kati reported about planning for an educators meeting that will initiate networking and conversation among visual practitioners working in educational institutions regarding the incorporation of visual practice materials. We are hoping that a number of special projects will emerge from this with regard to curriculum development, research, and support for PhD work in the field. We are also exploring some research projects that will seek to provide qualitative and quantitative support for the value of visual practice. We would like to see grant sponsorship for a comprehensive academic literature review of the existing literature on visual practice. We agreed that this is an exciting time for the Institute, and that as we move past all of the work setting up the competency model and the certification, we can give attention to the full charter of academic, social and scientific areas that we have in our portfolio, which complements the business portfolio of our parent IFVP organization.
