The IFVP Institute Board of Directors met on Saturday, June 24 for an update on our certification project. For some years now the Institute has been working with materials gathered from across our community regarding the skills present, and seeking to provide a visual competency practice model that would bring these together for informational, mentoring, developmental and certification purposes. The certification interest arises from conversations with members of our community who find that their governments or corporations seek a professional certification credential when considering contracts. We have been working with INIFAC as our umbrella certifying agent to create a visual practitioner certification, and we have completed meeting their requirements for extensive assessment criteria and processes. We are finalizing our work with them and will begin to work with a pilot group for our first run through the process. Ultimately we will be providing this certification through the IFVP Institute and INIFAC for those for whom it is important. We recognize that not every visual practitioner needs or wants this, but for some it is a game changer in their professional careers. There is still work for us to do setting up the website for applications and materials explaining and promoting the certification. We will also continue to work with the base visual practitioner competency model for application to educational settings. Stay tuned!
