The IFVP Board of Directors met for our monthly meeting on Saturday, January 20th at 8:30am NYC time. We welcomed new board members Chung Li, Winta Assefa Weldekiros, and returning board member Tul Luketai. We took time to check in, then took care of the standard minutes, financial reports and membership reports. The rest of the meeting was devoted to connecting professionally about our work in visual practice, and organizing for the coming year. Board member Sarah Spencer had spent significant time reorganizing our basecamp project board around key areas of our strategic plan. By using the new card features of basecamp, we anticipate a clearer workflow around our areas of communication, governance, membership, organizational structure and finances. We realize that one of our key challenges is to continue the evolution of IFVP from a group of friends to a professional association that represents itself in a way comparable to contemporary expectations. Our members are often in highly professional settings, and we need our website and materials to match those settings. Our hope is to increase membership at all levels (both basic and premium) in a way that will allow us to invest resources in that goal. Of course we also discussed the upcoming Global Summit in Montclair, and we look forward to seeing our community gather for learning and networking.
