Hello there,
Nice to meet you, I’m Gaz Roberts, professional illustrator and owner of Thick Black Line Ltd.
I've been an image-maker since forever. I was the kid at school who, during 'rainy break', opted to not read a book or play a board game, but to grab a pile of paper and a pencil.
I would jump to my classmates' challenge to draw random1980s cartoon icons. Happy times!
Somewhere along the way this turned into my job.
In 2007 I discovered the world of Graphic Recording or 'Live Scribing' during a stint at a London-based business consultancy that specialised in process-driven collaborative, problem-solving events for large organisations...I was hooked!
I've ticked many boxes in my career bucket-list as an illustrator:
- Created a cast of characters for an award-winning kids TV show
- Played with toys based on my character designs
- Created a Graphic Novel with a Hollywood star
- Fleshed-out TV, comic and movie concepts with UK TV 'Royle-ty'
But I always beamed back down to 'Planet Scribe' - my right-brain just loves the spontaneity and instantaneousness of it.
In short: I love my job, I'm great at it, and I'm even better at it when you're involved. So, let's draw out those stories together, capture the value in those vital conversations and get to the ‘art’ of the matter.
