About

I work at the nexus of healthcare and higher education, teaching healthcare business strategy and economics to mid-career health care professionals. We have arrived at a tipping point in this industry (as many others), rife with burnout, disillusionment and confustion. What's more, the public health emergency has created a well of pent up emotion and stress for healthcare workers. This is a moment when visual rhetoric can become particularly healing. I have used graphic faciliation to lead groups of physicians and healthcare staff in the past, but it's use as a pedagogical tool in graduate medical education is new.

The untapped potential is vast:  Visuals can be used to illustrate health conditions, diagram treatment plans and teaching empathy to students as they map their patients' journeys through the health system is powerful.  As you have likely experienced, the translation of spoken word into graphic metaphor is emotionally evocative and can be incredibly healing.  I am looking forward to connecting to others who have used graphic facilitation and recording in graduate education, healthcare settings or with students generally.
